Stories

Out here, every row and every board has a story. These are ours. Short notes about the flowers, the old wood, the people we love, and the God who keeps showing up in the small stuff.

Pour a cup of coffee and stay a while.

When One Color Is Enough

There’s a little rule I keep on the farm and in the house alike: pick one color and let it lead.

This week it’s the zinnias — that dusty pink that shows up like a soft yes in the cutting garden. I don’t try to match every pillow and plate to it. I set one old jar or a small tray on the table, add a handful of stems, and leave the rest of the room alone. Suddenly the whole space feels decided, like someone meant something by it.

You can do the same with whatever you’re holding right now. A single bold bloom beside a worn book. One ribbon of color through a quiet mantel. If the room feels scattered, it usually isn’t asking for more — it’s asking for one clear note.

That’s how we style things around here at The Lamb Shoppe Co. (and Rust & Bloom): not louder, just truer. One color. Enough light. A little faith that simple can still feel like home.

If you’re gathering stems this week, try the rule once and see what settles.
